Why Italy and the Italian Black Metal bands only:
Third I Rex is part Italian and part British. Italian by birth of the founder Rob and British by adoption as Rob has been living in the UK over the past eleven years.
Before moving to the UK, Rob used to run a black metal label in Italy called Vomitium Niger Records (aka "Black Vomit Records") and before that another label called In The Forest Of Perdition. Having to move to a different country, the project was abandoned and it took some time before the dude could start another label activity. Third I Rex has been focusing on different music styles and genres, moving from postrock to post-black metal.
IMR - Imperatrix Mundi Records wants to be a tribute to the past and the scene Rob comes from as an artist (thanks to his own past/current bands) and as a producer. It is not about nationalism but purely about promoting the music we love by pressing the artists we trust! The concept is always the same across the two labels but in this case, we want to focus on a familiar scene and genre.
The aim of the new label:
The goal of IMR is to support the Italian black metal scene through co-productions and active promotion of the national bands. We recognise the Italian black metal scene as one of the most prolific yet underestimated scenes worldwide and this has to stop.
Yearly there are at least 20 good releases coming from the Italian black metal scene and totally up to world's bestselling albums released from countries in North Europe or the US.
The Italians could receive more support nationally and with Third I Rex guidance we would like to offer the chance to all those bands currently forced to find deals way far from home in order to get their albums pressed. Worst-case scenario, these bands are forced to self press and promote their own albums and consequently the support goes missing.
We heard rumours of well-known labels asking money to the bands for the pressing and bands are forced to pay to see their album released, often paying more than the actual factory cost and then seeing no money paid back.
We want to put an end to this mafia which is irreparably damaging the scene.

The promotion will be organised through the same channels Third I Rex is currently working.
We are here to see a scene united by a common goal!
It is time to stop fighting each other and claim the place Italian black metal deserves through cooperation and not a competition!
